Huckleberry Time!

The long awaited huckleberry harvest has arrived!  We had a great time Sunday afternoon picking huckleberries with family and friends! Words can't describe the sweet smell in the air and beauty of nature.  It instantly transports me back to my childhood of making clubs in the woods with Sarah and Cassie. Raking trails through pine needles and loading up all sorts of papers and office supplies from around the house (sorry mom!) to write the names of who would be allowed to join the club!  Oh what a lucky girl I was to grow up with my own woods for a backyard!
L and I made our jam Monday, she is the best little helper in the kitchen.  The jar lids were covered using sticker paper, another idea from the sugar city blog.

I don't know about you, but the holidays are creeping up in my mind! I am so ready for the crisp, fresh air and the bright starry nights of fall.  I was looking at some photos from last Christmas and this picture flooded my memory with the excitement and sensational joy of Christmastime.  It doesn't get any better!  L (and bear-bear) were looking to see what Santa had delivered while visions of sugarplums had danced in their heads! I wonder what is on his list for this year?

Thank you Megan and Grandma W for having sympathy for us and sharing your harvest!  It truly is a beautiful gift.  We are well taken care of.

Closing the door on the bamboo project!

Some how Mr. W and I finished the wood floors yesterday.  It took us about 12 hours, but it sure felt good to wake up this morning and know that is over.  It is fun to see the house start to resemble a home!  L got to enjoy the day with Grandma and Grandpa W!  She loved going to Sam's Club and eating a cinnamon and sugar pretzel with a root beer.  Lucky girl!

Bamboo floors have begun!

We started laying the bamboo floors today!  (Aren't we so eco-friendly)  I must say, not so bad.  We completed the sewing/piano/mom & dad room in 3 1/2 hours!  Mr. W and I enjoy doing these projects together, I'm happy to report after 11 years of marriage!  Huge thanks to our niece and nephew for keeping L entertained at the watermelon stand, allowing us to speed along!

Happy 23rd Crista

Happy Birthday Crista!  We all know Miss Crista loves her baby dolls.  Such a great excuse to make doll clothes, since Miss L has no interest!  We hope it was a great birthday Lou!

Sugar City inspired shirt

If you haven't heard of the sugar city journal blog, you must check it out! (sugarcityjournal.blogspot.com) I am so inspired everyday by the talents of Lynne and Melissa.  (best friends and sister-in-laws)  Not only by their talents, but their value of friendships and life!  I was inspired by  "the goose girl" shirt, this was a little different interpretation.  Such a snappy little fashion statement for a 6 year old princess!

It's coming along

Okay, you may want to bring your sunglasses if you come to visit the W's!  I love the galvanized roof - yes I chose it.  I believe we will be laying wood floors this week, so keep us in your prayers.

The $250.00 Bargain

So I found this chaise at Downeast Home a few weeks ago that had funky legs and was missing a pillow.   I immediately recognized the potential and fell in love with it.  I asked the manager how much he would sell it to me for and he thought for a minute and said, "how about $250?"  SOLD!  I brought it home in the Volvo (got'ta love it) and already had these legs from Ikea to put on it.  I was wandering through Downeast the other day, and what to my wandering eyes should appear?  MY OTHER PILLOW!  Sitting on a couch that was similar in color but not the match!  They remembered me and let me have my missing pillow.  Bless their little hearts.  Now the question is, what to do with 3 couches?
