I couldn't resist these tulips today when I saw them in the grocery store. I try to keep fresh flowers in the kitchen because they truly make me feel happy when I look at them. Besides, pink tulips remind me of Easter, which reminds me of days with green grass and life outside, which I need to be reminded of right now. Umm...I better go skiing again soon, winter is good for something.

More skiing this weekend...I love my little ski buddy! L wore her "in bloom" dress for her zoo program at school Friday, mom was pleased!

When you live in the valley of January inversion, you must ski to survive! Wow, it rejuvenates the soul to see such beauty in every direction you look. Better yet, it was great to leave the 25 degree temperatures, and enjoy 45 degrees at the ski resort. We were all able to shed the coats and layers and breathe the fresh air!

no more lost gloves...

L lost her glove on the playground last week, forcing me to pay $25 for a new pair. What is the deal with all of the stores being sold out of gloves in January? Seriously, all of the boots, hats, and gloves are already being replaced with swimsuits. I am determined to make sure that this pair of gloves will not be lost, so I pulled out the knitting needles and the buttons. Did you have the mittens on a string when you were a kid? Same idea, hope it is successful!

baby legs

I found this idea on a blog the other day and thought it was genius! L hates wearing tights because they are always inching their way down or bunching up around her waist. The solution...baby legs! They are long enough that she can pull them up on her thighs to wear under a dress or skirt, or bunch them up below the knee to wear as leg warmers. (I have also seen them worn as arm warmers!) Here is a tutorial on flickr. I found it easier to simply cut the toe and heel off of the socks, and use the left-over piece folded in half to make the lower cuff.  I can't wait to find some cuter socks and make some more!
