shop open.
I couldn't bear to leave this little white blouse sitting around without a home. I opened (that sounds so official) an etsy shop for this very reason. When I make something that is too small, or I just can't stop sewing even though L has more than enough clothing for 5 little girls, maybe someone else can use it! I can't imagine that it will be a shop that will be stocked with items all of the time, but here and there check in. Maybe there will be something I loved making and you can use.

weekend summary
L had her friend over last night for a late night. They had so much fun. Friday night pizza, movie, and lots of blue eye shadow made the evening a blast!
The week finally slowed down enough to allow for a little sewing time yesterday. Another shirt...my favorite. I also finished the Easter attire, which makes me anticipate the beauty of the holiday filled with pastels and blossoms.
A few days ago our friends that own 40+ chickens gave us the most beautiful eggs. I can't wait to move so I can finally get my own chickens. I have only been waiting two years...
Now I have decided to slow down a bit and work on this embroidery tonight. This is one of my favorite drawings of L's. It is so simple and beautiful, yet delivers a profound message. Embroidery is like sitting down with a bowl of warm oatmeal sweetened with brown sugar. It is comforting, calming, and so old-fashioned. I can't help but think of my mom, my mother-in-law, grandmas, and great-grandmas sitting in a chair with a big basket of floss and hoops at their side and needle in hand. I wonder what they would think about as they were hand stitching. Was it relaxing? Was it peaceful? I hope so.

cute, comfy, and easy
remember the pillowcase dress? this dress is all the same, just add a fixed top instead of the drawstring. i love how katie uses freezer paper to monogram, i on the other hand had interfacing and fabric handy.

easter on my mind
i love easter! L's outfit is almost finished and most of the sweet confections are purchased. i loved this display at L's science fair "dyes in nature." i am going to dye my easter eggs using natures ingredients this year. i'm surprised we haven't experimented yet, last year L insisted on dying eggs in february!

finally.
miss L has been waiting to participate in the science fair for the last 4 weeks, last night was her big night! we all worked on her display together after she chose her topic of "brain cells." (notice germy made it onto her display) she had such a great time-we all did!
- -
now she has a tired mommy. after the excitement of the science fair last night i substituted for her class today, (much better than last time i'm happy to report, thanks to the good old primary marble jar) visited with a few friends this afternoon to discuss knitting, and now preparing our traditional friday night pizza. (although i wish i were outside weeding and trimming bushes with you megan)

this weekend
(oh the sun feels sooooo good!)
we had a fabulous weekend! friday little missy skipped school and we went to school with dad again. after she attended a pharmacy class, and acquired mr. brain cell (she saves her allowance to collect these stuffed specimen and viruses) she and i went to the planetarium and watched the 3-d movie about the space station. it was incredible! admittedly, my claustrophobia was kicked in to high gear watching how the astronauts live in the space station for a 4 month duration. also, my extreme fear of heights prevented me from breathing watching the astronauts work on the exterior of the space station. i couldn't help but smile when L leaned over to me and said, "if i ever go to outer space I will leave bear bear at home because if he floated away i would never get him back." i love her.
after the question "how many hours has it been?" at least 50 times, we headed to her cousins house to stay the night. she had so much fun! it was so nice to see the ground, no snow in sight. they played on the swing set, rode bikes, ate pizza and i don't know how many fudge striped cookies, and giggled constantly! auntie d and i made it out to do a little fabric shopping and took a little stroll through the mall.
mr. w and i were talking about how malls just aren't what they used to be. i feel like i need to plug my ears and cover my eyes 90% of the time. (maybe they have always been that way, i just see it all through the eyes of a 6 year old now)
so my joys...
- i am a wife and a mother (i know, i say that often)
- i made it to the temple this week (haven't missed a week yet!)
- we are healthy
- i have been blessed with a wonderful friend
- i felt the sun this weekend - with no snow under my feet
- j b weld fixed my broken office chair (don't worry friend, mr. w did the final damage! ha ha!)
- i love my new mouse with the scrolling function!!!!!

shirt (disappointment), backpack, and L
have you ever made something that you thought was so so cute, then your daughter arrives home from school, you try it on her, and oh the heartbreak...it is too small. This was supposed to be L's easter shirt, but i think it is destined for etsy. i love it so much that i will make it again, with a few alterations to increase the size. so sad.
she has carried this little green backpack around since she was 3. i thought it was time to upgrade, this time with pockets on
the outside for mr. bear bear! (since she can't leave home without him)
++
i am so proud of this girl! she was selected to attend a gifted/talented writing class at school! i am surprised how much she is loving it. she skipped recess today so she could be early. big smiles!

come on!
L's new line..."come on!" (usually said in a moment of frustration, but not always) That perfectly describes how I felt when I woke up this morning in the midst of a blizzard with 1' of snow already. Just yesterday I was telling dad that the snow was finally gone. So far, 2 feet and it is still snowing. It did provide L and I with some fun after school. She helped me shovel and then we made a small sledding hill (Mt. Crumpit) and played for a while! I love to hear her giggles.
I was sitting in church yesterday thinking about how much I love our tradition of attending church weekly. I love getting dressed in reverent clothing and sitting together listening to talks that uplift. I love how I feel sitting there as a family, my girl on my lap and Mr. W's arm snuggling me close to him. I have my own tradition of taking my little book to jot down thoughts I have during this time. I feel like my thoughts flow clearly and easily. I love to set goals for the coming week and record my joys from the prior. I feel blessed.

busy week...
what a busy week. i'm not complaining, it seems to make the weekdays go by faster. (heaven knows i live for the weekend!) i substituted for L's class yesterday...oh my. what was it in the air? they were so hyper. i must praise her teachers, the patience and kindness. i was not cut out for that job. in all fairness, last time they were great. i have more patience for fabric.
these are a few projects that i was able to squeeze in. more pillows for my bed, another japanese shirt, and linen pants.
